Resource Timeline

Resource Timeline

The Resource Timeline proves a graphical display of the resources assignments, whether they are employees, equipment or subs.

You can display the timeline is Hours, Days, Weeks, or Months.
Use the < > keys to move back and forth through history and future schedules.
Hoover over a bar to see the details on the assignment.

General

The system allows you to create ASSIGNMENTS for scheduling purposes.  Assignments are always attached to a RESOURCE (Employee, Equipment, Sub).  These assignments may optionally be connected to a job and/or phase.

Assignments have start/finish dates and start/finish times.  The start/finish dates can be managed baby dragging the bars or keying the dates into the dialog box.  Start/Finish times will be copied from the job if it has custom settings or if not, then copied from your default settings.

For more detailed information, visit the page on Understanding Assignments.

Create an Assignment

There are two ways to create an assignment on this screen.
  1. Drag a job from the left onto the person on the right side of the screen.  This will create the assignment and attach it to the job you dragged.
  2. Double-Click on the schedule canvas.  This will create an assignment.  Fill in the details on the dialog box.
Once an assignment is created you can double click on the bar to open the edit dialog box.

An assignment is an independent scheduled event.  It can be attached to a job or stand alone.

Job Based Assignments:

When you create an assignment attached to a job, the system copies this data onto the assignment:
  1. Job Name (Assignment Description)
  2. Job Address (Address)
  3. Job Start/Finish Times or system defaults for start/finish times
  4. Job Start/Finish Dates
  5. Phase Code and Description if selected (Second Line Description)
These assignments will default to the settings on the job for start/finish times and finish dates.
Optional: Connect to an individual phase code.  In that case, the dialog box shows the estimated hours.

Non Job Assignments:

When you create an assignment that is not attached to a job, you will need to at least enter the Description.  Non Job assignments are useful for scheduling things that are not related to a job.  For instance:
  1. Scheduled Time Off (Vacations, PTOs etc)
  2. Training
  3. Meetings

Employee Color Bars

The vertical color bars beside each employee name represent the color of the employee title you setup on the configuration screen.  Hovering over the color bar will display the title.  You can use this to designate various employee levels such as journeyman, apprentice, super, etc.
